- You will receive monthly issues of our newsletter, Lowcountry Diggings, either by mail or email. Our newsletter shares tons of exclusive information including monthly field trip opportunities to gem mines throughout the Southeast, local classes and workshops, upcoming gem shows, insider tips and tricks and more!
- Voting privileges for all adult members
- Chance for annual scholarships to attend workshops at either Wildacres or William Holland Retreat - School of Lapidary Arts
- Members are able to attend any Dixie Mineral Council Field Trips. These field trips are “hosted” by a club local to the area giving you access to local knowledge.
- Your dues also help keep our club running! The Lowcountry Gem & Mineral Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we appreciate your support!

come to one of our meetings
Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at the Redux Contemporary Art Center in downtown Charleston. The address is 1056 King Street. Parking is available in the lot out front or on the street. Please enter through the front door. Masks are required. You can arrive anytime between 6:30-7. Visitors & guests are always welcome!

The fellowship begins at 6:30 P.M. where you can chat with fellow members. Feel free to bring any gem/mineral/fossil/jewelry related items with you, the group is a great resource for identifying different specimens and always appreciates a unique piece for show & tell!

After the business meeting we will have our monthly programming. Each meeting has a pre-planned program designed by our Program chairperson, including educational videos, silent auctions each quarter to benefit our scholarship program and "Show and Tell".
Club Meeting Dates in 2023: Second Thursday of Every Month

After the business meeting we will have our monthly programming. Each meeting has a pre-planned program designed by our Program chairperson, including educational videos, silent auctions each quarter to benefit our scholarship program and "Show and Tell".
Club Meeting Dates in 2023: Second Thursday of Every Month
- January 12 (First Meeting of the Year) : Our January meeting will be a silent auction that will benefit the club. Bring anything relevant to contribute as a donation and bid on what others donated! Examples of donations: mineral specimens, polished stones, books, plants, tools, etc.
- February 9: For our February meeting please bring your favorite rock or fossil for show and tell!
- March 9
- April 20 (rescheduled from April 13 due to spring break travel): Olivia will be doing a presentation on diamonds.
- May 11: Madison & Kristin will do a presentation on tips for visiting the Franklin Gem Show
- June 8: Lindsay Koob will be giving a presentation on opals with specimens from his extensive personal collection
- July (Summer Month - No Meeting)
- August (Summer Month - No Meeting)
- September 14 (First Meeting of Second Half of Year) We will be recapping our June Field Trip with Palmetto Fossil Excursions. Bring any cool finds from the field trip or your own summer adventures for Show & Tell!
- October 12 (Membership Dues are due) Lindsay Koob will be giving a presentation on the October birthstone, opal! He will bring specimens from his extensive personal collection and will have opals that he has cut and polished available for purchase.
