What is this rock? Can someone identify it for me?
-You are welcome to bring it to a meeting to see if any club members present can help with identification. We range from hobbyists to retired geologists so we can give you some ideas but no guarantees on a solid ID.
-There are facebook groups and Reddit forums dedicated to rock ID with lots of knowledgeable people that can help, this will probably be your fastest route to an answer!
I have a rock and want someone to cut it for me, do you have someone who can do that?
-We do have a few club members who are hobby lapidarists that cut cabochons. We do not have anyone we can recommend for faceting at the moment. Please email [email protected] to be put in touch with someone who can help you.
I have some gems that I want authenticated and valued, do you have a reference for someone who can do this?
We unfortunately do not have any club members who can help you with this, we recommend you reach out to a local fine jewelry store for their advice.
Do you have someone who can come speak to our group about geology related things?
Currently we do not have anyone in the club available for outreach but you are always welcome to attend a meeting if you'd like to learn more.
Do you offer classes?
The Lowcountry Gem & Mineral Club does not offer classes but some of our members do teach!
